About Us
The Humanitarian Aid and Development Foundation (FOHAD) is a Guinean non-governmental organisation officially recognised since 2 January 2008 (Order No. A/2008/0790/MIS/CAB/DNLP/08). For more than fifteen years, it has worked across Guinea’s four natural regions: Lower Guinea, Upper Guinea, Middle Guinea and Forest Guinea.
In the mid-2000s
In several villages in Upper and Middle Guinea, limited access to safe drinking water forced women and children to spend long hours walking each day, at the expense of their health, education and economic development. Faced with this shared reality, a group of committed Guineans began shaping the idea of a structured, sustainable response.
FOHAD was founded on 2 January 2008 with a simple conviction: access to water, education and dignity should never
depend on geography, social background or family income.
Its first initiatives focused on installing improved wells in the most remote rural areas. Very quickly, the organisation expanded its work to building schools, caring for orphaned and disadvantaged children, providing food assistance during major solidarity campaigns such as Ramadan, Tabaski and Zakat, and supporting reconstruction efforts.
More than fifteen years later, FOHAD has become a recognised development actor in Guinea, committed to building
the foundations of a fairer and more resilient future alongside local communities.
